Finance Manager

Full Time | Reporting to the Directors

A growing owner-managed business is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its senior leadership team. This is a hands-on role offering genuine influence across both finance and business operations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working within an SME environment where no two days are the same.

Working closely with the Directors, you will take ownership of the finance function whilst supporting the day-to-day running of the business. You'll be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, managing a small team and contributing to operational projects and business improvements whenever required.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and performance reporting.
• Ownership of month-end processes, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Production and management of cash flow forecasts, working capital management and liquidity planning.
• Maintaining robust financial controls and ensuring accurate VAT reporting and compliance.
• Providing commercial analysis and financial insight to support business decisions.
• Managing a small team across sales support, customer service and purchasing functions.
• Supporting operational activities, supplier relationships and stock planning.
• Driving process improvements and helping to enhance business performance across the organisation.
• Assisting Directors with a variety of ad hoc operational and commercial projects.

About You

We are keen to speak with both qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and strong (QBE) candidates who have built their careers within SME or owner-managed businesses.

You will demonstrate:

• Previous experience producing management accounts and managing day-to-day finance operations.
• Strong cash flow management and working capital experience.
• A proven track record of implementing and maintaining tight cost controls.
• Experience managing and developing a small team.
• A practical, hands-on approach with the willingness to get involved in operational matters outside of finance.
• The confidence to work closely with business owners and influence decision-making.
• Strong systems and Excel skills, with experience using accounting software.
